Shoriful Islam, a fast bowler from Bangladesh, could be chosen for the next series-ending second Test match against Australia in Mackay. Due to an injury worry, the cricket player recently missed Bangladesh’s first game of the series in Darwin.
Ahead of the vital second match of the tour, Shoriful, 25, has given an important update on his injuries and recuperation as he re-joins the national team after passing the fitness test.
Shoriful Islam has no regrets about missing this past weekend’s historic Test victory for Bangladesh over Australia at the Marrara Oval in Darwin. The cricket player is also happy that he took a hiatus due to an injury before returning to the national team.
Shoriful claims that the injury break was “good” for his body because it allowed him to get the rest he needed throughout his recuperation days.
The 25-year-old stated, “No, not unlucky,” in an interview with media on Tuesday, August 18 in Mackay. Anything that occurs is not announced beforehand. I rested for a few days after the injury and underwent rehabilitation. I believe it was beneficial to my physique.
Shoriful Islam is also eager to play Australia in Bangladesh’s next second Test match, which would decide the series.
“It feels really good,” he continued. I’ll do my best to continue this. I’m always prepared. Let’s see if playing the match is part of my destiny, in Sha Allah.
Beautiful Islam aims to give Bangladesh a historic series victory.
The fast bowler from Bangladesh is now determined to win a historic Test series in Australia. As the team gets ready to play Pat Cummins and company at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay, Shoriful Islam underlined his faith in Bangladesh’s prospects.
“Of course,” he responded. Which team is not interested in winning a series? We want to win the series as well. We’ll try, insha’Allah.
What is Shoriful Islam’s Test cricket record?
In his career, Shoriful Islam has only participated in 13 Test matches for Bangladesh. In the process, the cricket player has taken 27 wickets at a costly bowling average of 36.03.
In the series-deciding match against Pakistan in Sylhet in May of this year, he participated in the final of the thirteen Test matches. Prior to being sidelined for the first part of the Australian tour due to an injury, the 25-year-old participated in the ODI series in Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh is on the verge of history
With the help of fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and “Player of the Match” Hasan Mahmud, Bangladesh defeated Australia by nine wickets in Darwin to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
According to skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, the result was Bangladesh’s greatest cricketing accomplishment to date and their first-ever Test victory on Australian territory.
The all-firing Bangladesh speed attack in Mackay will only be strengthened by Shoriful Islam’s comeback ahead of the decisive match. Bangladesh will just be the second Asian team after India to win a Test series in Australia if they win or draw the upcoming second Test.
