Indian batter Shashank Singh has decided to play for Puducherry beginning with the 2026–2027 domestic season, leaving Chhattisgarh. After obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS), the 34-year-old stated that his lengthy career with the state team had ended.
Shashank took action after expressing his dissatisfaction with the state association’s treatment of him during an injury-affected period. The all-rounder said that the CSCS failed to support him during his recovery and shelved him without giving an explanation.
Before the forthcoming domestic season, Shashank Singh explained his decision to switch teams: “Yes, I’m abandoning Chhattisgarh. I am relocating to Pondicherry for the 2026–2027 season after receiving the NOC from CSCS. Shashank Singh told the Times of India, “I had severe injuries to my shoulder and fingers last season, but the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh didn’t help me at all during this time.
Shashank Singh further claimed that he was turned over for both the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2026 and the state’s pre-season training camp in Bengaluru, despite requesting the organization for clarity.
“My name was absent from both the Chhattisgarh squad that flew to Bengaluru for a pre-season camp and the list of players for the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League 2026 after the season. I questioned why my name wasn’t included. He said, “There was no answer.
White-ball cricket will be Shashank Singh top priority.
Shashank Singh has shown to be one of the more dependable players in India’s domestic white-ball circuit over the last few seasons. He proved his value as a true all-rounder during the 2024–2025 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 450 runs and taking 11 wickets in just seven games.
The seasoned campaigner has also decided to focus just on white-ball formats for the next domestic season and to give up playing red-ball cricket.
Shashank Singh continues to be an essential member of the Punjab Kings side in the Indian Premier League. He was essential to the team’s run to the IPL 2025 final, scoring 350 runs with a strike rate of 153.51, including a heroic 61 off only 30 deliveries in the first match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
During a fairly quiet IPL 2026 season, the all-rounder scored 132 runs in nine innings while serving as vice-captain of the Punjab Kings behind Shreyas Iyer.
