Ravichandran Ashwin has urged the BCCI to decide on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup immediately rather than waiting until August 2026. The former India off-spinner believes that veteran players who have been with the squad for decades should be treated with respect, especially since the World Cup is scheduled to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia from October to November 2027.
Ashwin argues that as both veterans would be around 39 and 40 by tournament time, respectively, each month of clarity counts for both mental and physical preparation.
