Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has impressed Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s former T20I captain, with his gutsy approach and excellent skill at such a young age. Sooryavanshi won his India T20I cap at Old Trafford at the age of 15 years and 99 days, surpassing the record for India’s youngest international debutant since Sachin Tendulkar in 1989.

The teenager received his India T20I cap in July 2026 and has already made an impression on the international level, winning the Player of the Series title during the Zimbabwe tour.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Recent Performances and Impact

Rashid said that at 15, he wasn’t as talented as Sooryavanshi. The Gujarat Titans’ vice-captain praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ability to clear the ropes with ease, despite his youth.

Sooryavanshi has yet to feature in India’s present three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The starting combination of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma has performed admirably. However, with the series essentially decided, India may choose to offer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi the opportunity to play his maiden international game for his country.
