After losing two early wickets in the second Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe, Ishan Kishan claimed that India resisted the need to score 250. Instead, the batters concentrated on evaluating the pitch and forming a partnership, which set the stage for a decisive 90-run victory in Harare on Saturday.

Before Tilak Varma’s undefeated 60 off 29 balls propelled India to 219 for 5, Ishan Kishan smashed 81 off 44 balls and combined 66 with captain Shreyas Iyer. Ishan Kishan  entered the game after India had fallen to 29 for 2 in the first three overs. India ended the series 2-0 with one game remaining after bowling out Zimbabwe for 129 in 17.5 overs. It is your responsibility to observe the ball and play your natural game as a batter batting at number three.

After winning Player of the Match, Ishan Kishan remarked, “You also have to understand the wicket. “Many people were debating whether we should aim for 250 or 230 runs or if the wicket was only about scoring 170 or 180. So when Shreyas Iyer entered, we had that in mind. Our goal was to form a team and go far in the innings. I believe we did a great job executing it.”

“I don’t give so much focus on what’s happening outside,” Ishan Kishan remarked, emphasising that his position at No. 3 is different from that of India’s aggressive opening duo. “I am aware of how I must play. It’s crucial to simply focus on the here and now rather than worrying about the outside world, who is getting more, or the fact that this guy is hitting more.

On the team, everyone can project that image. However, as a No. 3 batsman, you must recognise what matters when two wickets are lost. Do you continue to take risks or do you form alliances? Is it simple to hit? You must comprehend the wicket and adjust your game accordingly.

After the team played two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against Ireland in June, followed by a five-match T20I series and three ODIs in England before travelling to Zimbabwe for the upcoming series, Ishan Kishan also acknowledged the difficulty of India’s demanding schedule.

Ishan Kishan stated that although though the series is won, the emphasis will soon turn to recuperation prior to Sunday’s final Twenty20 International.

It’s clearly quite challenging,” he remarked. “You participate in a lot of games in England. We began in Ireland and abruptly arrived in Zimbabwe, where we played a match the following day.An athlete’s life is never simple. Every time you play, you want to give it your all, and you don’t want to make any compromises. We are left with no option but to give you time to heal before moving on to the next game and giving it our all.

Therefore, it was important to eat well and get enough sleep before the following game. Playing back-to-back games is never easy, especially for bowlers, so the only thing left to do is recuperate properly.”
