Before pitching a ball in his second over against Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday, July 25, during the second Twenty20 International, Prince Yadav had to limp off due to an injury, ending his fantastic day out. The next game of the series is due for the following day, thus the setback may put an end to his stay in Zimbabwe.

The 24-year-old was having a fantastic game, building on his outstanding performance in the series’ opening game. Ben Curran, the opening batsman, and Sikandar Raza, the skipper, were both removed by the right-arm pace bowler.

But after bowling two balls in his second over, Yadav was seen clutching his hamstring before he could get past the Zimbabwean batting order. The fast bowler was ejected from the pitch in agony after India’s physiotherapist examined the injury.

In September, the Men in Blue will play three Twenty20 Internationals and five One Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies at home before embarking on an all-format tour to New Zealand later this year. Prince Yadav would have had the ideal chance to secure a spot in the starting lineup before the 2027 Cricket World Cup with these matches.

After losing back-to-back series against England and Ireland earlier this month without winning a game in the British Isles, India has rediscovered some form in the game’s shortest format. Yadav took 2 for 19 from his allotted four overs as Shreyas Iyer’s team defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the series’ opening match. It was also the team’s first victory under their new captain, who took Suryakumar Yadav’s place.
