Yashasvi Jaiswal was tragically run out on August 15 during India’s first Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle International Cricket Stadium. On the final delivery of the eleventh over, KL Rahul started for a quick single after sending the ball toward mid-on.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was positioned at the non-striker’s end, lost his footing in a tangle with the bowler, leaving both hitters stranded at the same end.
Prabath Jayasuriya tossed the ball to the wicketkeeper to complete the dismissal. Jaiswal departed the game after scoring 32 runs in his 30th Test match. Notably, he has now played at thirty different venues during his Test career.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal has played in 30 different places and this was his 30th Test match. In this game, he scored 32 points before being run out.
Because Yashasvi Jaiswal had fallen after the bowler’s leg struck him, I believed KL Rahul was to blame. Even if he had gotten up and run, he wouldn’t have made it to the other end,” Chopra stated on his YouTube page.
The duration of the run-out
Chopra concluded that the two batters’ obvious communication breakdown was the main cause of the dismissal. Rahul had already committed to the single and was focused on reaching the bowler’s end without monitoring his partner’s condition.
He didn’t look at his partner at all as he watched the ball, which led to an unlucky run-out. In a Test match, a run-out is a poor way to exit. There was a breakdown in communication. Sometimes life isn’t so fair,” Chopra remarked.
Chopra’s assessment on Rahul’s role
Chopra praised Rahul’s experience and versatility as a hitter while highlighting his capacity to play cautiously and score hundreds in Test cricket. The 34-year-old deputy captain has demonstrated these qualities in a number of contexts and situations. “KL Rahul stood there. He is adaptable.
He has such amazing control over his game and senses when he wants to. Whether it’s in Afghanistan or here, he plays conservatively and scores 100 in Test matches. He is slow. He lets the ball come to him.
Chopra stated, “He is retired hurt and not retired out, but he can return even tho that knock was cut short due to cramps.” so that whenever he feels comfortable, he may come in to bat. “Hopefully, he will also score a century,” he said.
