Tammy Beaumont announced her retirement from international cricket following the conclusion of the Test match against the ladies of India. Beaumont made 260 matches for England after making her debut in 2009. She quits as the England Women’s all-time top ODI centurion with 12 hundreds in the format.
One of the pivotal moments in her career occurred when England won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup at home in 2017 and she was named Player of the Tournament. 410 runs
England’s historic title victory was largely due to Tammy Beaumont, the tournament’s leading scorer.
“The greatest honour has been playing for England for almost 17 years.” When I first fell in love with cricket as a young girl, I had no idea that playing for England was an option. It makes me very happy to consider how many boys and girls have been inspired, especially this summer, and how far the game has come in our nation,” Tammy Beaumont, cited by ECB, said.
“It’s time for me to give the cap to the upcoming generation of England players because we’ve always wanted to pass it on to them. “This Test match at Lord’s, our first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s, feels like the ideal occasion to cap off a career that I could never have imagined would be as special as it has been,” she continued.
In addition to her remarkable consistency throughout variants, Tammy Beaumont is one of just two England women and six England players overall to score an international century in each of the game’s three versions. At the 2023 Women’s Ashes, she had her best Test innings, scoring an incredible 208 at Trent Bridge to become the first woman from England to make a Test double-century.
“I want to thank all of the supporters for their incredible support, but I will continue to play domestic cricket. I also want to express my gratitude to all of the coaches and support personnel I’ve worked with over the years, to my teammates with whom I’ve had so many incredible experiences, and to my friends and family—without your love and support throughout the years, I couldn’t have made it this far,” Tammy Beaumont said.
