Nahid Rana, Bangladesh’s pace phenom, will miss the T20I series finale against Zimbabwe on July 19 owing to a side injury.

The injured Nahid Rana is expected to be out for two to three weeks, casting doubt on his participation in the team’s Test tour of Australia next month. He sustained the injury in the second T20I against Zimbabwe.

Nahid Rana, who had a career-best T20I performance in the series opener (4-26), departed the field after bowling 2.3 overs in the second game, finishing with 1-15.

On Saturday (July 18), a member of the national selection panel confirmed that Nahid Rana will miss the third T20I against Zimbabwe due to a side strain, which is expected to take two to three weeks to recover.

“We are awaiting the scan report and hoping for the best, as we still have time before the first Test against Australia,” he stated. The way he’s bowling right now, missing him on the Australia trip would be a huge blow, so we’re waiting to see how serious his injury is and how many days he’ll need to heal,” he added.

It is known that Nahid Rana is running out of time to make himself available for the opening Test against Australia, which begins on August 13 in Darwin.

Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and the national selectors met on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to discuss preparations for the Australia series. It is understood that Rana’s availability Down Under was a source of contention from the start, given his recent rise to prominence in Bangladesh’s pace attack.

The series opener in Darwin will be followed by the second Test in Mackay on August 22.
