According to Aakash Chopra, right-arm spinner Mohammed Siraj is the first player to be left out of the Men in Blue’s white-ball selections during the current three-match ODI series between India and England.
But Mohammed Siraj would soon don the blue jersey, according to the former India opener.
Mohammed Siraj was first picked in India’s squads for the Twenty20 International series against Ireland and England. But once the selectors decided to give him a rest, Prasidh Krishna took his place.
“We have quietly ignored him. We first said he couldn’t bowl with the old ball in ODIs. Despite participating in the World Cup, he is still out of T20 cricket. When questioned on his YouTube channel over Siraj’s exclusion from India’s white-ball lineup, Chopra said, “He came and took three wickets on the first day itself.”
“That day, he nearly won Player of the Match. He is no longer seen in ODIs either. He appears to have been rather neglected. There’s a little ambiguity. “I think you will see him as a part of the Indian team going forward, even though he is the first man to be left out,” he continued.
Aakash Chopra said of Mohammed Siraj, the spinner from Hyderabad who was left out of the ODI squad for the games against England, “He is the kind of player you won’t be able to keep away for long”
Chopra underlined the constant chopping and changing of India’s fast-bowling department. However, the former cricket player turned analyst backed Siraj’s comeback, saying, “I feel he will come because he is the kind of player you won’t be able to keep away for long.” In fast bowling, there is so much constant churning that those who aren’t there today would have shown up tomorrow,” he remarked.
Despite his doubts about Mohammed Siraj place in the T20 system, Chopra declared that the seasoned seamer will return to the 50-over teams for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
“One thing is certain. The Indian team is confident that Siraj will be prepared in case something goes wrong and that he will give it his all when he plays. I believe Mohammed Siraj will return. In ODI cricket, his name will be mentioned. Chopra noted, “I’m not sure in T20Is, but in ODIs, he will be there come the World Cup.”
