The West Indies have added opener Brandon King and all-rounder Justin Greaves to their team as replacements for John Campbell and Roston Chase in the fourth and fifth One-Day Internationals against New Zealand.
Campbell was removed from the field during the third One-Day International in Guyana after falling to the ground clutching his left hamstring early in the innings after completing a dangerous single. He couldn’t get up and had to be stretchered off the pitch.
He is scheduled to undergo scans to assess the injury, which will prevent him from participating in the series’ last two games. Chase sustained a laceration and contusion to his right index finger during the second Test against Sri Lanka, and has been unable to participate in the series.
Greaves was dropped from the squad earlier after missing the first three games due to a back issue.
Shimron Hetmyer was recruited to the squad as a replacement for Greaves, and he played in the third ODI and is expected to continue in the squad throughout the series.
Khary Pierre, a left-arm spinner, is also expected to return home after playing in the first three games. All-rounder Shamar Springer, who was part of the 15-man team, had already withdrew due to his mother’s death.
The Windies trail 2-1 as the series shifts from Guyana to Barbados, with the final two games on July 19 and 21, respectively. Jayden Lennox, the Kiwi left-arm spinner, followed up his five-wicket haul in the second ODI with four wickets to bowl the Windies out for 140. The visitors took down the score with easy ease, taking a 2-1 lead after the Windies won by seven wickets in the previous match.
