The selectors have announced a 15-person roster for the eight-team competition that will start in Dubai on August 28. Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan in the forthcoming Women’s Asia Cup.

As the first female player from Pakistan to compete in the tournament, Fatima Sana had to miss the T20I leg of Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka in order to fulfilll her obligations with Birmingham Phoenix.

Sadia Iqbal, who did not participate in the tour of Sri Lanka, and Gull Feroza, who was excluded from the T20Is leg but played in the one-dayers, are also back in the squad.

Pakistan’s team for the September Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, does not include Sadia, Waheeda Akhtar, or Najiha Alvi. Humna Bilal, Tasmia Rubab, and Aliya Riaz will replace them in the Asian Games team. Diana Baig, a seasoned pacer, was left off of the list of reserves and was unable to secure a berth in either squad.

From Sunday till August 25, the team will participate in a 10-day camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign begins on September 1 against Thailand. Four days after the Asia Cup final, on September 17, Pakistan will play Thailand once more in the Asian Games quarterfinal.
