Sai Sudharsan, who was noticeably absent when the Indian squad departed Mumbai for Sri Lanka on Tuesday, August 4, is anticipated to arrive in Colombo by Saturday, August 8.

The left-hander is reportedly on track to restore full fitness while undergoing rehabilitation for a minor ailment. He is anticipated to join the team well in front of the first Test, which starts on August 15.

Sudharsan had informed close pals that he will go “later this week,” as reported by Cricbuzz. He will miss the three-day warm-up match, which starts on Friday (August 7), as it has now been revealed that he may visit the island by weekend.

It is believed that Sudharsan, 24, is tending to a sore big toe.

He has, however, started hitting again at the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, and the medical staff there is anticipated to give him the all-clear to join the team in the island nation.

Sudharsan, a successful white-ball batsman, is also considered a vital component of Shubman Gill’s Test team, especially at No. 3. The hitter from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu has played in seven Test matches and amassed 383 runs at an average of 39, including three half-centuries.

As initially reported by Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that four net bowlers have accompanied the Indian team in Sri Lanka. According to the BCCI, “Harsh Dubey, Shivang Kumar, Tanush Kotian and Vipraj Nigam have joined the Indian squad as net bowlers to assist the team in the build-up to the first Test against Sri Lanka.”

One day after landing in Sri Lanka, on Wednesday, August 5, the Indian squad held its first training session at the NCC Ground. The team will fly to Galle for the first Test after the three-day warm-up match in Colombo concludes on August 9. The second Test will take place in Colombo starting on August 23.
