In order to get ready for the next Test tour of Australia, Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed said on Wednesday, July 22, that he has resigned from the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Taskin Ahmed was scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka to play for Jaffna Kings in the competition after arriving in Dhaka with the Zimbabwean team.
Bangladesh will play a two-Test series in Australia for the first time since 2003 when they depart for the crucial tour in August.
Taskin Ahmed was initially anticipated to miss the Twenty20 International series against Zimbabwe after receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the competition. But once Mustafizur Rahman was sidelined by injury, he remained in Zimbabwe for the series.
Taskin Ahmed said Cricbuzz, “Yeah, I had withdrawn myself from LPL and it is mainly for Australia Test series preparation.”
We played six consecutive games in Zimbabwe; perhaps I would have played four LPL games there. My training for Test matches would be impacted if I returned home and went straight to Australia after my time there (in the LPL),” he stated.
“In spite of a minor loss Since there won’t be many Australia series, I reasoned that it would be alright. That’s why, despite having the NOC, I made the decision to withdraw from the LPL,” he continued.
After Nahid Rana strained his left side during the second Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe, the management of the Bangladeshi team is also eagerly awaiting his return. The young fast bowler failed to finish his spell. To ascertain the severity of the injury, Rana, who arrived earlier in the day, will have scans.
Shoriful Islam, a left-arm pacer, is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the tour of Zimbabwe. He will be eligible for the opening Test if his rehabilitation goes according to plan because it usually takes three weeks to recover from an injury like this.
As part of the current World Test Championship cycle, the two Test matches will take place in Mackay (August 22–26) and Darwin (August 13–17).
