Batting staple Sunil Gavaskar has stated that the Indian squad has to be more clever and proactive in their approach to the game in light of their previous results away from home.

India’s only victory of the visit came at Edgbaston; they also lost 2-1 in the three-match ODI series.
Sunil Gavaskar says the team needs to get better at picking its moments and playing smart cricket depending on the situation.
Indian hitters often struggled against short-pitched bowling in England, and Sunil Gavaskar pointed out that the team needed to pick their opponents more carefully.
“The team has a lot of work ahead of them. The urgent need is a thorough, sincere analysis of the flaws and how to fix them. The batter must control his ego and play the ball on its merits rather than trying to live up to an image while choosing a shot, which is crucial.
The most important thing is to play smart cricket. Determine which bowler doesn’t require a counterattack. According to the Hindustan Times, Sunil Gavaskar stated in his Sportstar column, “Then target the bowlers against whom you can make up for the quiet over from the better bowler.”
India’s fielding was also poor during the visit because to misfields and lost opportunities. Sunil Gavaskar emphasised how crucial it is for the team as a whole to improve at fielding and executing strategies during games.
