In her first coaching position since leaving professional cricket in 2023, former England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt has been named assistant coach of Trent Rockets for the 2026 Women’s Hundred. In the Rockets’ coaching setup, she will collaborate with Nat Sciver-Brunt, the captain of England.
With 335 wickets, including 170 in ODIs, Katherine is England’s second-highest wicket-taker in all women’s international formats and an OBE recipient for her services to cricket. In addition to representing Trent Rockets in the first three seasons of The Hundred from 2021 to 2023, she was instrumental in England’s victories at the 2009 Women’s T20 World Cup and the 2017 Women’s World Cup.
“It’s time for me to return to a position in cricket. Since retirement, I’ve had a crazy three years figuring out what life as a mother looks like! The Trent Rockets sprang to mind first. According to Sciver-Brunt, who was cited by Cricinfo, “Trent Bridge is such a special place, and having been involved as a player with the Rockets before, coming back as a coach was an opportunity I just couldn’t turn down.”
There are still a few of well-known figures in the Hundred Women’s coaching ranks. While former Southern Brave head coach Charlotte Edwards is now the head coach of England Women’s, Anya Shrubsole and Sarah Taylor are assistant coaches with the Manchester Super Giants and Southern Brave, respectively. Lisa Keightley of MI London is the only female head coach in the league right now.
Former Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White will join the women’s team as fielding coach, and Sciver-Brunt will work alongside head coach Chris Read.
Ash Gardner of Australia took over as captain of Trent Rockets after Nat Sciver-Brunt resigned last year to concentrate on her England obligations.
The Trent Rockets men’s team has hired former South African white-ball bowling coach Anton Roux as an assistant coach to Peter Moores. “I’m moving into a new era, and I know coaching and mentoring players of this standard will be something I’ll love,” Roux said. Being on the other side of the fence and returning to The Hundred at last excites me greatly. I’m eager to start working with this unique team,” Sciver-Brunt remarked.
