Shikhar Dhawan expressed confidence in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. According to the former India opener who backed them, the two seasoned hitters will help the Indian team win the championship.

“They are fabled. For many years, they have given performances for the nation. All of us, including Virat and Rohit, have been in a relationship since we were about sixteen years old. The Cricket News cited Dhawan as stating, “They are two to three years younger than me, and it is a matter of great joy that they are preparing now.”

When his foundation’s first STEM Lab opened, Dhawan made these remarks.

Both 37-year-old Virat Kohli and 39-year-old Rohit Sharma have defied critics with outstanding performances despite persistent doubts regarding their ability to compete in the 2027 World Cup due to their senior ages. Rohit and Kohli enjoyed a strong batting series in July, despite India’s 2-1 loss to England in the three-match ODI series. At Lord’s, Kohli produced two half-centuries and Rohit answered with a seamless century.

Rohit’s century in the England series and Kohli’s dependability

Rohit’s recent performance at Lord’s demonstrated his ability to adjust when the squad faced challenging circumstances during the England series. The opening batsman’s century showed his technical ability and mental toughness during a difficult period for the Indian batting team.

“Rohit recently scored a hundred at Lord’s.” It was a fantastic century that demonstrated his bat’s ability to communicate. He has been doing it for a long time, and when a challenging time arrived, he answered with his performances in the greatest way imaginable,” Dhawan remarked.

Kohli’s consistency and level of fitness have been hallmarks of his career, particularly as the 2027 World Cup approaches. The right-hander’s ability to perform at the highest level while keeping maximum physical condition has wowed cricket fans worldwide.

“No amount of adulation is sufficient for Virat. “It’s amazing how he stays so fit and keeps performing at the top level,” Dhawan remarked.
