Hasan Mahmud, a speed bowler for Bangladesh, stated on Tuesday that his team might accomplish “80 percent” of their goal of winning the recently finished two-match Test series against Australia.
After Australia defeated Bangladesh by an innings in Mackay after losing the first Test at Darwin by nine wickets, the series ended in a 1-1 tie, with Bangladesh sharing honours with the host.
“The dream we had before coming to Australia was that we would play against them and dominate, from winning in Darwin to giving them a hard time in Mackay, dominating in bowling.” Hasan, who set the tone for the touring group in Darwin with a fifer in the first Test, stated, “I think we were able to fulfil % of our target.”
“I would say we were able to fully apply our thinking, dedication, and focus in practice when we started training in Australia, and all the players tried to give their best,” he stated.
He remarked, “We can still feel the outcome of our work, the thing that we all fought for, and we almost achieved it. Unfortunately, the series was drawn, but it was a big achievement for us.”
He stated, “I hope to win more games in the future and dominate more in world cricket. The more we play in this kind of condition, the more we will dominate and get to play against the bigger teams more often.”
Hasan went on to say that their pace unit benefited from accurate bowling, which he believes was the secret to their success.
“We (the pace bowling unit) have been working to get better over the past few years, and before coming to Australia, we talked among ourselves about the conditions and challenges that we would face—we also communicated with the coach and analyst,” Hasan stated.
Australia is undoubtedly among the top teams in the world. We discussed our plans for them, and once we arrived in Australia, we made an effort to practise the tasks we were expected to perform, such as accuracy with new balls, swinging new balls and bowling while maintaining line and length’, he said.
“I would say that overall, the way our pacers were working, their commitment and focus, and the way they were proceeding in accordance with plan, was a sign of improvement.” Everyone gave it their all, and I believe we were all able to produce in the game. The fast bowlers clearly made a significant contribution to our victory, and as a fast bowling team, we were incredibly confident for this series,” he remarked.
Starc’s advice for Shoriful
After the second game of the series, Shoriful Islam, who claimed seven wickets in the first innings of the second Test, claimed to have taken some advice from Mitchell Starc.
Shoriful, who was spotted chatting with Starc during the second Test in Mackay, explained, “Basically, after the game ended I wanted to talk to him (Starc), and asked for some of his time which he agreed to and I enquired what kind of fitness levels he maintains before a series and how he prepares himself.”
“Given his age (36), his preparation is different from ours, but I got to know about all this and also how he maintains himself after a game,” he stated in closing.
