Prior to the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has emphasised the special intensity surrounding matches between India and Pakistan. From August 28 to September 13, the full competition will take place in Dubai International Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. India’s campaign will start on August 30 against Thailand, followed by a Group A match against Pakistan on September 5.
Harmanpreet Kaur discussed the psychological demands that distinguish India-Pakistan matchups from other international cricket matches. The captain of India considered how the rivalry affects the entire country and goes beyond the game itself.
Controlling pressure during India-Pakistan games
Harmanpreet Kaur strategy for handling the pressure is to stay focused on the core elements of the game instead of the larger backdrop of the match.
She stressed that producing achievements when the stakes are highest requires adhering to established procedures and remaining in the present. The seasoned veteran emphasised that players perform better in such demanding situations when they base their game plans on team demands rather than being overburdened by outside expectations.
With seven victories, India is the most successful team in the history of the Women’s Asia Cup. Sri Lanka, who defeated India in the previous Women’s Asia Cup final, is the tournament’s reigning winner. Along with players like Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, and Renuka Thakur, Smriti Mandhana serves as vice captain of India’s team during the competition. The final is set for September 13. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals on September 10 and 11.
