As the Tigers get ready for the second Test match against Australia in Mackay, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto voiced faith in his team’s capacity to play under any circumstances. After winning their first Test match in Australia, a historic nine-wicket triumph in Darwin from August 13–16, 2026, Bangladesh now leads the two-match series 1-0.
The Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay will host the second Test on Saturday, August 22, and it will go until August 26, 2026.
Before the game, Shanto spoke to the media. The skipper of Bangladesh underlined that his squad is still focused on carrying out their procedure correctly rather than planning too far ahead. According to him, the team’s performance on a daily and session basis is what matters, and if they follow the right procedure, the outcome would be evident.
In his explanation of his team’s strategy for the series, Shanto emphasised the significance of concentrating on current performance rather than long-term results.
He clarified that the team’s approach is based on carrying out the proper procedures consistently throughout each day and meeting.
Proceed rather than anticipating
During their two days of practice in Mackay, the Bangladeshi players have adapted well. Shanto noted that more seasoned players have been teaching younger players the value of repeating proper procedures in the changing room. He emphasised that the squad should keep playing and competing since they wouldn’t be able to develop and demonstrate their abilities in international cricket if they didn’t play.
