In the National Champions Cup on August 14, Fakhar Zaman hit 115 runs off 105 balls, including four sixes and seven fours, to help Pakistan Greens upset Pakistan Gold by 128 runs. Pakistan Gold was knocked out for 186 in 37 overs, while Pakistan Greens scored 314 runs.
In addition to his century, Fakhar claimed his first List A wicket in more than four years by dismissing Kamran Ghulam with left-arm spin. He made two catches during the game and won Player of the Match for his all-around performance.
This was Fakhar’s second straight century in the competition. In the previous game on August 11, 2026, he had scored 123 runs against Pakistan Whites while Pakistan Greens had successfully chased down 277 runs.
In that game, Fakhar was again selected Player of the Match. He has amassed 238 runs in two National Champions Cup games. In the victory over Pakistan Gold, Omair Yousuf scored 74 runs while Pakistan Greens captain Shadab Khan scored 61.
In the match versus Pakistan Gold, why did Fakhar Zaman bowl?
Before making his breakthrough against Pakistan Gold on August 11, 2026, Fakhar had bowled four wicketless overs for eleven runs in the previous match against Pakistan Whites. His first List A wicket since dismissing Haider Ali for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Northern Pakistan in the Pakistan Cup in March 2022 came when he used left-arm spin to dismiss Ghulam.
In jest, he gave captain Shadab credit for his bowling stints during the match.Shadab Khan declared in 2018, “I will bowl you overs whenever I become captain.” So, Shadab Khan deserves all the credit for my bowling,” Fakhar remarked.
What is the List A bowling record of Fakhar Zaman?
In 43 innings of List A cricket, Fakhar Zaman has taken 22 wickets. When he got five wickets against the England Lions in 2016, it was his most memorable bowling effort.
His previous entry in his List A wicket column dates back to March 2022, and his wicket against Ghulam closed a gap of more than four years. What was already a strong individual performance in the National Champions Cup gained a bowling component with the dismissal.
