India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has endorsed Rohit Sharma ahead of the series decider at Lord’s against England. In the third and final ODI of the series, Kotak believes the former India captain may play a memorable innings at the top. As a result, Rohit, who hasn’t impressed in the first two games, would be attempting to display his best batting abilities once more.
Even if the Board of Control for Cricket in India later ignored talks about Rohit’s potential retirement from international cricket, it is not surprising that there will be great expectations for him in the upcoming encounter. Kotak claims that despite the expectations of the dressing room and the fans, a player like Rohit Sharma is unlikely to feel the heat.
“A major player like Rohit Sharma cannot be under any kind of pressure, in my opinion.
He’s too skilled a player to sense that. Yes, he didn’t score any runs in the first two games, but it doesn’t seem to matter. However, it also appeared that he would likely get a good inning out today. However, that’s alright,” Kotak stated during the news conference.
To be honest, I’ve seen and played a lot of cricket. Many of the batters I’ve seen on a given day don’t get the momentum they want, and that may happen. At Lord’s, you can witness an entirely different innings from Rohit Sharma,” he continued.
Although most people have maintained that Rohit battled hard, Kotak thinks that his difficulties in the opening few games were only caused by his not getting balls in his slot. He continued by saying that Rohit is only one recent example of how it can happen to even the world’s best hitters. This strengthened his conviction that the seasoned opener might deliver a noteworthy century at the home of cricket.
“I wouldn’t use the word ‘struggling’, but perhaps the shots he usually plays are on the up and all because of the double bounce; he probably felt it was uncomfortable. Shubman Gill got a quick start, and Virat Kohli got a quick start, but he probably didn’t get balls in his slot or he didn’t get going.”
