Regarding Vaibhav Sooryavanshi expulsion, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer clarified that Samson was brought back because the team required a right-handed hitter to complement Abhishek Sharma due to the excessive number of left-handed hitters in India’s top seven. Iyer explained that Samson, who has won games for India in the past, was given another opportunity.
“We had to experiment with the optimal mix that would work best under these circumstances. In addition, we desired a right-hander to complement Abhishek. That was therefore one of the main causes. I was the only left-hander who was a right-hander, as you can see.
We wanted to test an alternative combination that would work well for this specific game, as I previously stated. Additionally, Samson is a gun batter. At the news conference following the game, Iyer stated, “He has won so many series for us in the past.”
