In December of this year, the India ‘A’ men’s cricket team will go to Nepal for a three-match Twenty20 series. All matches will take place at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Following a meeting between Cricket Association of Nepal President Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal) Secretary Paras Khadka, and Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devajit Saikia, the tour was finalised on the fringes of the ongoing International Cricket Council Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The first match between India ‘A’ and Nepal will take place on December 9, and the second and third Twenty20 matches will take place on December 11 and December 13, respectively, as per the schedule decided upon by the two boards.
Nepal will get a great chance to showcase their abilities against a strong Indian A team, which is anticipated to include both peripheral players from the senior men’s T20I team and elite Indian Premier League (IPL) performers.
The tour represents yet another important development in the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Nepal’s expanding partnership. Before heading to the West Indies and the USA for the World Cup, the Nepal men’s squad trained at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence and played tri-series matches against domestic sides from Gujarat and Baroda as part of their preparations for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup. Prior to Nepal’s next overseas assignments, this tour versus India A will offer comparable high-quality exposure.
On Friday, December 9, 2026, at Kirtipur, the three-match series will begin. Nepal will be looking to use this window to hone their T20I skills, having just finished their domestic calendar.
The remaining games are scheduled for December 11 and 13 at the same location. The Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground is still the top international cricket venue in the country and has played host to Nepal’s key home games in recent years.
