Bob Carter has been appointed as the new Batting Consultant for Cricket West Indies (CWI) on a one-year contract, effective September 1, 2026. Carter will cover age-group cricket, the senior men’s and women’s teams, and all three program categories.
Bob Carter has been an exceptional coach for more than thirty years. He was a member of the New Zealand Cricket high-performance organization for 21 years. From 2012 till August 2025, he held the position of High-Performance Coach. He was the head coach of the New Zealand Women’s team from 2019 to 2022. Carter was the Director of Cricket at the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in England prior to moving to New Zealand.

His primary responsibility at CWI is to provide both established and emerging players with specialised batting advice. He also works to improve the batting program design abilities of coaches who are already integrated into regional and high-performance setups. Miles Bascombe, CWI Director of Cricket, emphasised the amount of cricket that lies ahead, pointing out that during the next 24 to 30 months, West Indies teams will participate in at least six international competitions.
What will Bob Carter responsibilities be throughout CWI’s programs?
Bob Carter first assignment in the position is a regional tour that will take him to all six first-class territories—Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Leeward Islands, and Windward Islands—later in September 2026. He will have an early chance to evaluate coaching ability and batting ability across the entirety of West Indies domestic cricket thanks to the tour.
Bob Carter entrance was strategically timed to coincide with the international calendar of the West Indies. The men’s team will compete in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February and March of 2027, hence the board’s top priority is to consolidate batting depth throughout the team.
