After making his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on July 18, 2021, Suryakumar Yadav participated in 37 one-day internationals before making his final appearance against Australia in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023. He scored 773 runs at an average of 25.76 throughout his ODI career. Suryakumar struck 18 off 28 balls in the final World Cup encounter, but India lost to Australia.
When considering his international career, Suryakumar admitted that although he only participated in one Test match before other players returned and he was not given another opportunity, the one-day format is what truly disappointed him. He has been open about his own weaknesses in ODI cricket, even though he is aware of its demands.
