“I had previously stated at a news conference that the stadium’s and the Center of Excellence’s design aspects need some adjustments. We asked Populous to modify it because the initial plan did not fully reflect my vision for the Center of Excellence,” he continued.
Notably, even before he was elected president of the BCB, Tamim articulated his vision ten months prior. “I hope to accomplish one or two major things for the sport over these four years if I join the cricket board—whether in a high-ranking position or as a board director; a ‘Centre of Excellence’ is a particularly crucial one among them,” he told Prothom Alo.
Tamim Iqbal Is Focused on the 2031 World Cup
Bangladesh and India will host the 2031 ODI World Cup, which comes after the 50-over competition in the following edition. Tamim Iqbal emphasised the significance of the occasion and expressed how much it would mean to him if Bangladesh performed better than expected. The Purbachal Stadium was included in the bidding process for Bangladesh’s 2031 hosting of the World Cup, the third-largest sporting event in the world.
